For over 105 years, the Tuscaloosa Train Station has welcomed travelers with its romantic, castle-like facade. Built in 1911 for the Southern Railway as a replacement for a depot erected in 1873, the station was one of the last railroad operated passenger stations in the country. In 1979, Amtrak assumed Southern's Crescent passenger line and is now the sole passenger train in the state. Today, Amtrak provides ticketing and baggage services at this station, which is served by two daily trains. Southern Railway is now part of Norfolk Southern Corporation.
