To prepare students with “real-world” job experience and opportunities

• Students will be paid by Easterseals West Alabama.
• Students’ work status will be “part-time” for a total of 25 hours for 4 weeks.
• The work “week” will be Monday – Friday.
• The work “day” will be 5 hours 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. (hours may vary per business).
• Students will be covered by ESWA workman’s compensation and liability.

What to expect:

THE FIRST 2 DAYS:
Students participate in workshops that include class instruction for Social Skills.


FOUR WEEKS OF WORK-BASED LEARNING:
Students will become paid part-time employees in a local business to gain practical experience.
The pay rate is $10/hour.


THE FINAL FRIDAY OF WORK-BASED LEARNING:
Students will work until noon and then return to Easterseals for a graduation ceremony and review of the student’s experiences. Parents and employers are invited to the graduation party to celebrate with students at noon.
